Winner of the German Brand Award 2019

We have received the German Brand Award 2019 in the category “Kids & Toys”

Berlin/Dorsten/Frankfurt, 12.06.2019. In the 25nd anniversary year of Loick Biowertstoff GmbH the German company with the brand PlayMais® receives the popular “German Brand Award 2019” in the category “Excellent Brands in Kids & Toys” and a special award in the category “Sustainable Brands”. PlayMais® has convinced the expert jury as a natural toy that is 100% biodegradable and environmentally friendly. It is produced on the basis of maize starch and water and coloured with food colouring. The unpolluted toy stimulates the children’s fantasy and creativity.

Development of the PlayMais® brand

1994 the organic farmer and today’s CEO Hubert Loick invented the toy made of maize starch – PlayMais®. His favourite snack – peanut flips – brought him to the idea of the basic ingredient. The little colourful elements can be moistened with water and sticked together. This is how new creations and play worlds arise again and again which children between three and ten years build themselves. The market launch took place in 2000. Today the environmentally friendly PlayMais® crafting sets have a regular place in children’s rooms and are not only sold in Europe but also in the US and China. Only with the crafting sets Loick made a turnover of three million Euro last year. “We are proud of having received the popular German brand award as extraordinary toy”, says Hubert Loick. “Our product consists of 100% renewable raw materials, is biodegradable and absolutely harmless to health”.  PlayMais® – that’s creative fun “Made in Germany”. 

Social media campaign #sustainableplay

Upon notification of the German Brand Award 2019 PlayMais® realized a Hashtag campaign relating to the topic sustainability. In social media, for example Facebook, PlayMais® fans are able to comment why playing in a sustainable way is so important. Apart from own channels PlayMais® also took famous “parents bloggers” on board to support the viral campaign. All participants can win a family weekend in one of the children’s hotels in Europe as well as the new PlayMais® sets “Cup + Cake“ or “Toolbox“.
